Don’t be fooled by the title — “Halloween” is about so much more than the holiday it’s named after. Walker Hayes’ new song “Halloween” — making its exclusive world premiere on TooFab today — is both a trick and a treat. Although it’s dropping ahead of the October holiday, the latest from the “You Broke Up With Me” singer isn’t about going door to door for candy or haunted houses, it’s a catchy love song every set of ears should be able to appreciate.

The country music star told TooFab he wrote the track about his wife, Laney, and the concept of falling in love with someone you can be totally yourself around — mask free. He co-wrote the love song with Nicolle Galyon , who is featured in the music video alongside Hayes. For me personally, that’s Laney, my wife. She’s my best friend, and Halloween is a unique way of saying that.

Career[ edit ] MacGregor was born in St. Paul , Minnesota , United States. She began studying piano at age six, and was singing with bands by the time she was a teenager. She soon joined Yarrow, singing backup on a solo tour, and made an appearance on his Love Songs album. The new year saw the single top both the pop [3] and adult contemporary charts and was certified as a gold record.

MacGregor admitted in The Billboard Book of Number One Hits by Fred Bronson that she hated her own chart-topper, chiefly because she had little sympathy for the narrator of “Torn Between Two Lovers”, a woman who confesses to her husband that she is having an affair, but pleads with her husband to stay with her and accept the situation. MacGregor also said that the song indirectly led to the breakup of her own marriage, because her career kept her away from home so often that her relationship with her husband strained, and they decided to separate.

MacGregor did acknowledge that the song was successful because it appealed to listeners who had found themselves in the situation described in the lyrics. They were ” Sayonara ” and “Love Light”. The result was an album called Perfect Yellow House.

Monday, July 30, Best Country Singles of You Haven’t Heard It’s no surprise that many of the best songs released to country radio fail to make a blip on the charts. Even when some of country music’s most popular stars release a song that’s a little “different” for mainstream audiences read: It’s not “what the audience wants to hear. The following songs display a strength of songwriting that is rarely present on the airwaves, and that’s why they were not or most likely will not be played.

I’m sure I missed a few of the best I couldn’t find a composite list of singles released to country radio in , but these are some of my favorites. And anytime there are rumblings of a coming change underneath the surface, something is put out there that makes it evident radio isn’t coming around at all. According to current mainstream “country” culture, if you don’t write a song about how going out and getting wasted is always so much damn fun, and instead write a song about how a lot of the time it ain’t that damn much fun at all, you are bound to be taken for a crazy person.

Of course, this is ultimately a song about heartbreak, which certainly colors the way the narrator feels about this particular Saturday night. Granted, that would have been great, and I’m sure that’s ultimately what Pickler would love to have happened. But even though she’s a fairly household name due to her appearance on and subsequent fame garnered from American Idol, country radio simply did not give Kellie Pickler a chance this time around.

This particular song just sounds good, with steel guitar and Picker’s twangily strong vocals heavily featured; it’s a traditional, or at least neo-traditional, song pleasantly updated for today’s mainstream audience with it’s soul more than intact. Unfortunately, soulless is what’s popular.

Initially driven by a shared vision of widescreen guitar melody, harmony and lyric, the classic Big Country sound was further enhanced later that summer by the arrival of drummer Mark Brzezicki and bass player Tony Butler. It would be the last album they recorded together. With Stuart at the helm, Big Country, scored 17 top 30 UK singles achieving 5 gold and platinum status albums along the way. He is survived by his children Callum and Kirsten.

Some have speculated that the song’s flimsiness is an intentional dig at its alleged subject, but regardless of the reason, this is one of Swift’s very weakest singles to date. Should’ve Said No.

October 28, Fanpop. The popular cover might be ahead of its time or re-arranged with a fresher, more modern take, but somehow it managed to find a bigger audience than the original. But the song was first performed and recorded by Los Angeles-based alternative band Ednaswap for their self-titled debut. Hazard never released his version, though. The song got the band a TV appearance on the show 45, which eventually led to the band getting its own TV show based on their performance of the song.

In , while she was on tour in England with her band The Runaways , Joan Jett watched Arrows perform the song on their show. It peaked at No. Singles Chart in , but it failed to gain any recognition in the United States. Over the years, the song became iconic; Rolling Stone placed it at on their list of the Greatest Songs of All Time.

It was at first little more than a gimmick, a tool in the circulation war against NME’s much older and more popular rival Melody Maker. The chart, at first a top 12, was the creation of the paper’s advertising manager, Percy Dickins, who compiled it by telephoning around 20 major record stores and aggregating their sales reports.
